Myrtle Beaulieu is a proud Indigenous Cree woman, mother of four daughters, and grandmother to three grandsons. She is a Social Worker with certification in Career Development and brings extensive experience supporting individuals, families, and Northern communities across Alberta. Myrtle spent more than eight years working in Career Development with a Métis organization, serving as an Employment Advisor and Manager, and has experience with RCMP Victim Services.
Recently, Myrtle received her Indian Status, marking a deeply meaningful milestone in her personal journey of reconnecting with and honouring her Cree identity, family, culture, and community.
Myrtle currently serves as the Indigenous Resource Liaison for the North with the Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council (AEAAC). In this role, she builds relationships with Indigenous communities and provides education, resources, and awareness focused on Elder abuse prevention.
Myrtle is passionate about giving back to her community, addressing injustice, and challenging perspectives to help create safer and more supportive communities for Indigenous Peoples and Elders. Her goal is to build relationships and empower communities with the knowledge, resources, and tools they need to recognize, prevent, and respond to Elder abuse.
Outside of her professional work, Myrtle enjoys family time, volunteering, gardening, and getting out on the open road on her motorcycle.
