Description

If you've ever walked away from a shift, a staff meeting, or a one-on-one feeling exhausted, undermined, or wondering, "Why is it so hard to just get people to do their jobs?" — you are not alone.

Leaders in human services — across disabilities, mental health, healthcare, and community settings — often find themselves stuck in cycles of low accountability, team conflict, and emotional fatigue. Despite strong effort and good intentions, many are still spending the majority of their energy managing a small portion of their team.

This session is not about "fixing" employees — it's about elevating leadership.

Stop Babysitting, Start Leading is a practical, no-nonsense session designed to help leaders finally make sense of the team dynamics that feel unpredictable or unfixable, and to respond in ways that strengthen both accountability and culture.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Identify the "Lid" and understand how leadership habits can unintentionally cap team performance
  • Apply the Competence vs. Values Filter to address challenging staff dynamics effectively
  • Use the A.C.E. Method to move from managing tasks to driving results through clear agreements
  • Navigate high-stakes accountability conversations without escalating conflict
  • Build a team culture where strong staff are supported and retained — not overburdened

This session bridges behavioural science, organizational strategy, and real-world leadership experience, delivered with honesty, humour, and immediately applicable tools.

Participants will leave with practical strategies they can implement right away to reduce reactivity, strengthen team performance, and support more consistent, prevention-focused service delivery.
