Derek Newby is the Regional Managing Director for Perkins&Will studios across Canada, as well as the Managing Director of the firm’s Vancouver and Calgary studios and a member of the global Perkins&Will Board of Directors. Derek’s work is animated by his drive to design a better world—one that creates the best conditions for people—and the planet—to thrive. He has contributed to the firm's coast-to-coast reputation for delivering innovative, community-oriented housing, leading some of Western Canada's most ambitious projects exploring comprehensive strategies to reduce carbon emissions. Committed to moving the needle, he lends his expertise to policy discussions that advance a greener built environment for municipalities, the Province, and non-governmental organizations.
