Romain Stephano is Director of Sustainability at Canderel, where he advises major real estate owners on translating corporate ESG strategies into asset-level financial and investment decisions. Since joining the firm in 2017, he has played a key role in embedding sustainability practices across residential and commercial portfolios, supporting both existing assets and new developments.
Romain advises clients on how evolving regulations, certifications, and climate-related risks influence underwriting assumptions, asset valuation, and investment models. He also supports properties and development projects in implementing decarbonization measures, utility conservation programs, green building certifications, and sustainability training—bridging strategic sustainability objectives with financially aligned outcomes at the asset level.
In 2023, he led the creation of Road to Net Zero, Canderel’s decarbonization advisory service, designed to help building owners plan and prioritize initiatives that reduce transition risk and protect long-term asset value.
Romain holds a Master of Engineering in Energy Engineering from IMT Atlantique in France and Polytechnique Montréal.
