Name
Session 1A: Turning Climate Resilience Insights into Actionable Value
Date
Friday, June 19, 2026
Time
9:15 AM - 10:15 AM
Description

Climate resilience is moving from a “nice to have” to a baseline expectation, embedded in leading frameworks such as CAGBC’s Zero Carbon Building Standards™ and LEED® v5. Yet for many existing buildings there remains a critical gap between climate‑risk screening results and practical capital planning. Building owners are often left grappling with inconsistent risk data, difficulty quantifying avoided losses, and limited valuation signals, hindering investment decisions that could materially reduce exposure to physical climate risk. This session offers the building‑owner perspective on how to close the gap and turn risk identification into actionable strategies. Panelists will share how they validate climate-risk screening insights at the asset level, where deeper analysis offers the most valuable, and how resilience measures can be strategically integrated into planned life cycle and decarbonization work to minimize incremental costs. Attendees will leave with practical approaches for demonstrating measurable outcomes – strengthening valuation, insurability, investor confidence, and organizational readiness, while equipping them with the knowledge needed to better align resilience efforts with strong financial performance.
